Double Fudge Brownie Baked Alaska

Brownies:
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup margarine, softened
3/4 cup flour
1½ cups Nestle® semisweet chocolate chips, melted
3 eggs

Filling:
1/2 gallon chocolate ice cream, softened

Meringue:
6 egg whites
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup Nestle® semisweet chocolate chips

Grease 9" round glass cake pan. Line with foil leaving excess foil over edges; butter foil. Set aside.

For brownies, in large bowl, combine brown sugar and margarine. Add flour, melted chocolate and eggs Beat and scrape bowl often, until well mixed,
2 to 3 minutes. Pour into prepared pan. Bake at 350° for 40 to 50 minutes
or until wooden pick inserted halfway between edges and center comes
out clean. Cool completely; remove from pan by lifting foil.

For filling, line 2½ qt. bowl with foil; pack ice cream into bowl, cover and freeze until firm, 3 to 4 hours.

Heat oven to 450°. In large bowl, beat egg whites at high speed, scraping
bowl often until soft peaks Add salt and vanilla. Continue beating and
gradually add sugar, until stiff peaks form, 2 to 3 minutes. Fold in
1/2 cup chips.

To assemble, place brownies on ovenproof plate. Invert ice cream onto
brownies; remove bowl and foil. Spread meringue evenly over entire
surface, covering any holes. Bake at 450° for 3 to 5 minutes or until
lightly browned.

Serve immediately.

Makes 12 servings
